Modern Travel - A Delightful December Night Out in Burlington

December is a time to gather, and what better way to do exactly that than with tacos, sweet treats, and a walk through a winter wonderland?

Burro

Burlington has all of this on offer and then some. For a start, head downtown to Brant Street and make a bee-line to Burro, a buzzing little joint that does Mexican right. Margaritas in three tiers, tequila tasting flights, appetizers like bean tostadas and rib-cut street corn, and an extensive menu of truly excellent tacos create a meal that’s fun for everyone.

As a bonus, the entire kitchen is 100% gluten-free and safe for people with celiac disease or gluten intolerance, and they’ll accommodate other dietary restrictions as well! This is a very popular spot, so reservations are highly recommended.

Kelly’s Bake Shoppe

Don’t get too full for dessert, though. A short walk down Brant Street will take you to Kelly’s Bake Shoppe, a gluten-free, nut-free, and vegan bakery that draws people in from far and wide. The shop is whimsically decorated in vivid pinks, and as you enter you’re greeted by a sprawling sweets counter that’s a true treat for people who don’t always get to eat freshly baked sweets.

You don’t need to have dietary restrictions to enjoy these goodies, though: they’re genuinely delicious, and those in your party who don’t care either way won’t know the difference, we promise. The shop is open until 8 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, and parking in downtown Burlington is free on weekends as well, making this a prime time to visit.

Winter Wonders

Round out your delightful December evening with a visit to Winter Wonders, a dazzling light show that treats you to a winding and picturesque walk through Hendrie Park at the Royal Botanical Gardens.
