Event: 2016 Holiday Artisan Marketplace
Date: Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13, 2016.
Place: Visual Arts Mississauga at Riverwood
Time: 10 am to 4 pm

Brief Description: VAM’s Holiday Artisan Marketplace is the perfect opportunity to kick-off the holiday season with good cheer and some wonderful gift-giving ideas. Explore a unique variety of art and handmade gifts created locally including jewelry, ceramics, smaller paintings and mixed media, fibre, glass, woodwork and more. Freshly baked holiday goodies will be available for purchase to make your visit even more delightful. VAM is pleased to welcome the community to its Holiday Tea Room open from 10 am until 2 pm both days. Don’t miss this highly anticipated event!   

Event:  Why do you Create? Exhibition Opening, Artist Talk and Demonstration with Printmaker Agustin Rolando Rojas
Place: Visual Arts Mississauga at Riverwood Gallery
Time: Opening reception, Artist Talk & Live Demonstration take place on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm. Art exhibition is open to the public from November 21, 2016 until December 4, 2016.
Cost: $5 to attend Artist Talk. Free admission to the Opening Reception.
Brief Description: All are welcome to “Why Do You Create?” an art exhibition and workshop that asks artists what inspires them to get creative. Is it a person, place, or thing? Join VAM at the Opening Reception held on Friday, November 25, 2016. In conjunction with the Opening Reception, VAM will host an Artist Talk and demonstration with artist Agustin Rolando Rojas. Attendees must register for the Talk to join. Join Agustin Rolando Rojas and take a glimpse into his creative process as he takes you through the process of drypoint printmaking. Born in Havana, Cuba, Agustin Rolando Rojas was formally trained at the San Alejandro Academy 1974-1978 and Higher Art Institute 1978-1983, both in Havana, with an emphasis on printmaking. Following a brief introduction to DRYPOINT, Agustin will demonstrate his techniques while speaking about his creative process and answering questions.

Event: Art Workshop: Experimental Drypoint: An introduction to drypoint intaglio printmaking with Agustin Rolando
Place: Visual Arts Mississauga at Riverwood Gallery
Time:  December 3rd and 4th, 2016 from 9:30 am until 4 pm
Cost: VAM member $235.00, and $250.00 for non-members (Materials and tools are included in the price of the workshop). 
Brief Description: Drypoint is a ‪‎nontoxic and direct ‪printmaking technique that can be accomplished almost anywhere! It involves drawing or marking directly into the surface of an aluminum plate and taking a ‪‎print from the plate. The result is a beautiful meeting of subtle and expressive marks. Come experience this wonderfully simple print workshop for yourself!! Over the course of the weekend attendees will learn step by step evolution and transition from the first stages of drawing into plates through to printing them using an etching press. This is a basic and introductory course for beginners and intermediate artists. No printmaking experience needed but basic drawing and painting experience would be an asset. November 20th registration deadline. Level of Experience: Beginner -Intermediate

Event:  Call for Artists! VAM39 Annual Juried Show of Fine Arts
Brief Description: Calling all artists! Visual Arts Mississauga is on the lookout for submissions to is prestigious VAM39 Annual Juried Show of Fine Arts for artists living/working in Ontario.  Submissions can include paintings in any medium; drawings; works of mixed-media; hand-pulled prints; fibre art and sculpture (free standing and two-dimensional), photography, new media and video. A minimum of 35 artists will be selected to exhibit at the Art Gallery of Mississauga. Go for it!  DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: Sunday November 20, 2016 (Midnight)

Event:  VAM39 Annual Juried Show of Fine Arts
Place: Art Gallery of Mississauga, 300 City Centre Drive.
Time: Opening reception will take place on January 12, 2017 at 6 pm until 8 pm. The exhibition runs from January 12, 2017 until February 18, 2017.
Cost: Free.
Brief Description: Visual Arts Mississauga (VAM) working in collaboration with the Art Gallery of Mississauga is pleased to welcome the public to its prestigious 39th Annual Juried Show of Fine Arts. This anticipated exhibition features work by emerging and established artists living and working in Ontario.
