Modern Mississauga presents Ask The City - How do I to get a temporary parking permit for guests visiting me during the holidays?

Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.” We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.

Today’s question is about temporary parking permits.

How do I to get a temporary parking permit for guests visiting me during the holidays?

A temporary (or short term) residential parking permit allows you to park on the unsigned portion of a residential street longer than the standard five hours and during the prohibited period between 2-6 a.m. for up to five days. A maximum of five cars can be included with each permit request. You can request up to 14 temporary parking permits per address in a year.

Parking on statutory holidays such as Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day is allowed beyond the five hour limit between 8 a.m. and midnight. Temporary parking permits do not apply where paid parking is in effect.

With the holidays quickly approaching, here are three ways you can request a temporary parking permit for your guests.

1)    Online

Visit the Temporary Parking Permit on the City of Mississauga’s website and complete the online form.

2)    Pingstreet App

If you prefer to use your smartphone or tablet, download the Pingstreet app. Pingstreet is a free mobile app that provides you with City information in one convenient place. The app can be downloaded through the Apple Store, Google Play, BlackBerry World and Windows Phone Store. For more information, visit mississauga.ca/pingstreet.

3)    Call 3-1-1

You can also call the City’s Citizen Contact centre by dialing 3-1-1 or 905-615-4311 (outside of City limits) from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to request a temporary parking permit.

Temporary parking permits can be suspended at any time during a snow event to allow staff and machinery to safely clear our roads. To find out if temporary parking requests have been cancelled, contact 3-1-1 or follow us on Twitter @MississaugaSnow.
