Ontario’s mandatory mask mandate will end on March 21, 2022 in most settings

Shortly after two years of the global COVID-19 pandemic, on March 9th, 2022, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Kieran Moore, announced Ontario’s mandatory mask mandate will end on March 21, 2022.

Masks and face coverings will no longer be required in the majority of social settings, including restaurants, gyms, large event spaces and schools.

On the flip side, the mask mandate will remain in face…in place for transit, long-term care, retirement homes, hospitals, shelters, jails and congregate care and living settings.

Ontario will extend the Reopening Ontario Act (ROA) on March 28, 2022, for another 30 days and claim this is the final extension for the act to invoke emergency orders.

“And anyone who wants to wear a mask … they’re more than welcome to. It’s going to be up to the people,” Premier Doug Ford said on Wednesday, March 9th, 2022.
