Learn about the new Jewels on the Credit art show

Arts on the Credit is launching an exciting new event at the Waterside Inn, Port Credit, this June 18th, 2017 from 11 am to 5 pm!
Jewels on the Credit will be the first show ever to focus almost entirely on original jewellery produced by jewellery artists in the area. Along with stunning jewellery, there will be one of a kind fashion accessories, such as beautiful ostrich & fish skin leather handbags by Christine Vonbun. “I began an affair with handbags very early on and have always believed in an ethos of quality, beauty, balance, elegance and sustainability,” quotes Vonbun.
Contemporary embroidered pieces by Abrash Embroidery are coming and hand-dyed & handwoven silk scarves by Inge Dam, wonderfully embellished and finished with beaded fringes. Inge will also bring her delightful wee purses, too precious to resist.
David Dunkley, official milliner to the Queen’s Plate & who studies regularly in Britain, is joining Jewels with his fabulous millinery creations. Dunkley will also be showing some of his bridal collection.

Joanne Jones will present handbags and other accessories, all from reclaimed personal items. All “mined reCREATIONS” are handcrafted and benefit young people in economically challenged countries, breathing in new life to create something wonderful. “Each bag holds a story and when you purchase one of my bags, it’s up to you to give that story many more chapters,” says Jones.
The jewellers will present many different styles, from many different metals, beaded creations and restyled pieces as well. Visitors to Jewels on the Credit will discover jewellery made from sterling silver, gold, mild steel, and copper. Some pieces may include gemstones, crystals, and a wide variety of beads.
Craig Ewing is a master at creating beautiful beaded pieces to wear. “Most pieces are built one tiny bead at a time,” says Ewing.
Tammy Warren works in silver and says, “I want my jewellery to move with its wearer. It should always complement their style.
In total, Jewels on the Credit will present 19 different art-based jewellers and makers of fabulous fashion accessories. These are pieces to embellish your wardrobe and last a lifetime.
Jewels on the Credit will take place one day only, June 18th, 11 – 5 at the Waterside Inn.
Our launch this year will be FREE and we will be offering a fabulous draw prize donated by the Waterside Inn - a BFF weekend for two which will include a night’s stay in one of their 2-bedroom residential suites with breakfast or brunch the next morning.
