The Natural Map to Reducing Allergies

When allergy season hits, many of us reach for a quick fix. A lot of the over-the-counter pharmacy solutions can be harsh as well as decrease overall health and wellness.

Here are a few things to avoid  (unless recommended by your doctor!) 

  • Antihistamine’s and Allergy Medication –

  • Avoid over the counter allergy medicine whenever possible. They tend to have a negative impact on gut health, whereas natural anti-inflammatories and other natural remedies are often as helpful with much less negative side effects.

  • Nasal Spray 

  • Advil and NSAID’s for sinus headaches –

  • Medicated eyedrops – instead opt for natural tears and eyedrops that do not have harsh chemicals.

Allergens that are present during the spring or ‘allergy season’ tend to lead to an increased inflammation. Here are a few natural foods, supplements and lifestyle choices you can make to help decrease inflammation and reduce your symptoms.

  • Fermented Turmeric

  • Quercetin

  • Arnica

  • Homeopathic allergy medicine

  • Ginger

  • Wash your hair more often

  • Wear a mask when you are out and about

  • Stay hydrated! Water, water, water!

  • Avoid things that deplete the immune system such as refined sugar and processed foods

  • Limit or avoid dairy

  • Get enough sleep

  • Reduce stress

  • Exercise indoors on days with higher pollen
