Artist Glimpse - Suzi Kory

Suzi Kory is a Toronto-based country-rock-pop artist whose journey from Beirut to Canada has shaped a unique voice in the music industry. Known for her bold storytelling and genre-blending artistry, she’s built a reputation for authenticity and resilience. Her latest single, “Me Myself and I”, produced by Brent Woods in Los Angeles, is an empowering anthem about self-reliance and believing in your own strength. I’m honored to connect with Suzi to share her heart, her process, and her vision for the future.

Rob Aguiar - When you sit down to write, what does that journey look like for you—from the spark of an idea or emotion, to shaping melodies and lyrics, to finally deciding a song is complete?

Suzi Kory - The truth is the song, both melody and lyrics usually come to me out of the blue. I then record the idea by singing it into my phone so I can later sit down and complete it. Once I have most of the song completed I send what I have to my producer Brent Woods in LA. He records the guitar, bass, and drums, and then I fly out to LA to record in his home studio. Sometimes we have had to rework the lyrics or melody while I am there, but because it is usually only a couple of days we are very focused and work quickly to complete the song.

RA - Your latest single Me Myself and I carries a strong message of empowerment and self-reliance. Can you share what inspired the heart of this song, and what you hope listeners take away from its message?

SK - I started my musical journey in my forties and the general consensus around me was that I was crazy. Lucky for me, I had a strong sense of myself and a belief that I was capable of making this dream a reality. That belief in myself has never waivered. I have been blessed to have met incredible people who have guided me on my journey, but had I not taken those first few steps on my own I would not be where I am today.

RA - You’ve blended rock, country, and pop influences across your career. Who are the artists or genres that continue to inspire you, and how do they shape the sound you’re creating today?

SK -My influences are pretty diverse. I grew up on 80’s rock, but as a child I was constantly listening to the country music my mom was playing at home. I later became a huge Fleetwood Mac /Stevie Nicks fan, and more recently I have been listening to a lot of Lainey Wilson.

RA - The music industry can be demanding, especially for independent artists. What have been some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced, and how have you managed to stay true to your vision?

SK - I think making the decision to remain independent took the pressure off of having to conform to preconceived notions of success and instead follow my inner guidance and deliver authenticity in everything I offer to the public.

RA - If you could collaborate with any artist—past or present—who would it be, and what kind of song or project would you dream of creating together?

SK - Axl Rose is the reason I write and perform music today, so I would definitely have him at the top of the list for a collaboration. It would be interesting to work with the entire band and create a country tune with a rock edge, somewhat along the lines of my single ‘1975’.

RA - With your upcoming album just around the corner and Me Myself and I closing it out, what can fans expect from the release as a whole?

SK -  I am excited to share this album with fans because it is the most honest reflection of the past eight years since I started this journey. Having co-written all the songs on the album with Brent,  they represent the positivity I want to infuse into the universe. I believe in using music to uplift and inspire and that is what people can expect to find by listening to the album.

RA - Looking beyond the album, what do you see unfolding for you in the foreseeable future—whether that’s new creative projects, collaborations, or live performances?

SK - I will always continue writing and recording music, but I also feel that sharing my story in the form of motivational talks will also be equally important. My goal is to inspire others to follow their own dream at any age and by having carved out my own career in the music industry I now have the proof that it can be done.

Suzi, thank you for opening up and sharing your artistry with us. Your blend of country‑pop storytelling and rock‑inspired energy makes for a truly distinctive sound. It would be an honor to one day showcase you as an artist at a Glimpse Live Music Event, bringing that spirit directly to our audience.
