Learn About Mississauga's 2026 "Out of the Vault: Beyond the Shore" Museum Exhibit

Launched in 2024 for Mississauga’s 50th anniversary, Out of the Vault began as a special exhibition showcasing milestones, history, and rare artifacts from the Museums of Mississauga collection. This edition celebrates the Museums’ new presence at this landmark waterfront site, spotlighting the stories of Lakeview and Port Credit while also featuring artifacts connected to all 11 wards across the city.

This exhibition takes place from January 22 until April 5, 2026, Thursdays to Sundays from noon until 4:00 p.m. at 850 Enola Avenue.

Out of the Vault: Beyond the Shore brings together rarely seen and meaningful artifacts that tell the story of Mississauga’s shoreline communities and the city beyond.

Visitors will experience:

  • Shoreline and industrial history from Lakeview and Port Credit, including artifacts connected to waterfront industries and lake-based labour

  • Adamson Estate connections, featuring archaeological and site-specific items that reflect the estate’s layered past

  • City-building and wartime stories, highlighting Mississauga’s role in manufacturing, industry, and national moments

  • Community life across all 11 wards, with everyday objects that reveal how people lived, worked, and gathered

  • Culture, creativity, and contemporary voices, showcasing pop culture artifacts and modern community projects that connect past and present

Museums of Mississauga members are invited to an exclusive preview of Out of the Vault: Beyond the Shore on January 21st to enjoy an early look at the exhibition and connect with fellow members as we celebrate the stories and artifacts that bring Mississauga’s history to life.
