Modern Entrepreneur Profile: Mississauga's Natalie Hon

In conversation with Natalie Hon, recipient of the Mississauga Starter Company Plus grant.

1. What does your company provide/do?

Glow & Giggle Face Art provides professional face painting, temporary tattoos, DIY craft projects and interactive entertainment for birthday parties, school celebrations, corporate family days, and community festivals through Mississauga.

As its heart, my business is about creating joyful, memorable moments.  I work closely with parents, schools, and event organizers to bring color, creativity, and positive energy to their events - while making the planning process smooth and stress-free.  As a fully mobile services, I aim to be a trusted, reliable partner that families and organizations can confidently call on.

2. What inspired you to start your company?

The inspiration came from seeing how much effort goes into organizing children's events.  Many parents - especially working parents - are already balancing so much, and event organizers often have to coordinate multiple vendors.

I wanted to create a service that not only brings smiles to children's faces, but also genuinely supports the adults behind the scenes.  Glow & Giggle Face Art was built on the idea that celebrations should feel joyful, not overwhelming - and that creativity can bring communities together.

3. What's been the most impactful lesson you've learned being an entrepreneur?

I've learned that entrepreneurship is a journey of patience and resilience.  There are exciting highs and uncertain moments, but showing up consistently and delivering every time builds lasting trust.

In a community like Mississauga, relationships matter.  Every event is an opportunity to serve well, connect genuinely, and strengthen your reputation through professionalism and heart.

4. How do you unwind?

I unwind by spending quality time with family and close friends, exploring local community events, and occasionally enjoying quiet creative time to experiment new face paint designs.

As an entrepreneur, it's important for me to recharge - whether that's through a peaceful walk, having a coffee, trying new creative ideas, or simply stepping back to reflect and reset.

5. What succinct advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

Don't wait until everything feels perfect.  Start with what you have, stay open to learning, and be willing to grow.  Most importantly, build something that truly serves people - because purpose will carry you through the challenging days.

6. What are your goals for 2026?

In 2026, I hope to deepen Glow & Giggle Face Art's involvement with local schools, community festivals, and family-oriented corporate events.  Supporting local initiatives and being part of Mississauga's vibrant celebrations is very meaningful to me.

7. How did the Mississauga Starter Company Plus program help you start or expand your business?

The Mississauga Starter Company Plus program provided more than financial support - it offered mentorship, strategic structure, and renewed confidence during a pivotal stage of growth.

The guidance I received strengthened my business planning, marketing strategy, and operational systems.  Just as importantly, the program reminded me that small businesses are an important part of Mississauga's economy and community life - and that we grow stronger when we support one another.

"Glow & Giggle isn't just about adding color to faces - it's about creating unforgettable moments, meaningful memories, and bringing warmth and connection to our community."
