6 great places to check out this summer in Ontario

This summer is supposed to be a long hot one, so if you're looking for places to go and things to see, this list is for you! Here is my top 6 list of places to check out this summer in Ontario!

6. Forks of the Credit

Taking the number 6 spot on my list is the Forks of The Credit in my hometown of Caledon. Located in one of the most scenic spots right between Brampton and Orangeville, people travel from all over to hike this trail with their dogs or their buddies. The Credit river flows right along a branch of the trail, so you can take a dip to cool off on the long hike, or truck all the way through and make it to the falls. Regardless of where you're coming from, hiking the Forks of The Credit is definitely an adventure for the summer.

5. Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is that one touristy spot you have to visit, even if you're a native Ontarian. Butterfly and bird sanctuaries, night clubs, fun houses, mini golf- there really is no better place to get your fix of fun and excitement for people of all ages. You can explore the historic part of Niagara, or wander around wine country with your sweetheart, or just gamble away at the casino! Whatever your heart desires, you're sure to find it at Niagara Falls.

4. Hamilton

If you like the picturesque look of waterfalls sparkling in the sunlight, Hamilton is the place for you. Also known as the city of waterfalls, there are several unique ones to check out. Grab your dog, or your buddies and take a hike around Hamilton's famous falls- don't forget a swimsuit!

3. Wasaga Beach

At risk of sounding cliche, Wasaga Beach is definitely making it's way onto the list. With several beach areas and tons of space, Wasaga is great for a family outing, or for you and your friends looking to sunbath the world away. There's tons to do; a boardwalk for the shoppers, piercing places for the adventurous, and of course restaurants for the hungry. Keep an eye out for concerts held over the summer; Tim Hicks will be there to celebrate Canada Day on July 1st with a free one!

2. Elora

A small town tucked just around Fergus, Elora is the home of the famous Elora Gorge. With its picturesque clear blue water, surrounded by rocks and forestry, you'll want to make it there early before it gets too busy. If swimming isn't for you, the town of Elora has a few cute, unique little shops to check out. From fashion, to jewellery, to socks, to gelato, you'll definitely find something to satisfy yourself with!

1. Bala

Taking the number one spot on my list is Bala, a small cottage country town just outside of Gravenhurst and Huntsville. Home to the legendary Kee to Bala, as well as a very haunted hotel, Bala is definitely somewhere to check out even if you don't have a cottage. With huge names gracing the stage of the Kee, and a couple motels within walking distance, it's the perfect place for a weekend getaway. Filled with shops and restaurants, it makes for the perfect summer spot to check out.
