As modern vehicles become increasingly connected, paired with the rapid evolution of the smartphone, the folks over at Mazda have announced their finally adding (better late than never, right?) Apple Car Play and Android Auto.
In a gradual roll out, the first offering to feature the aforementioned technology is the 2019 CX-9, with the 2018 Mazda 6 and the 2019 CX-3 following suit.

In a smart move, Mazda is enabling these technologies to be included on older vehicles as far back as 2014 for select models for a nominal fee. It’s a great way to make up for being one of the last manufacturers to the smartphone party.

If you’ve got one of these vehicles, you can get your CarPlay and Android Auto installed:

2017 and newer MX-5 RF
2016 and newer CX-3
2016 and newer CX-5
2016 and newer CX-9
2016 and newer Mazda6
2016 and newer MX-5
2014 and newer Mazda3

Mazda’s put together a handy Q&A that’s included below:

2018 MAZDA6 and 2019 CX-3 vehicles produced as of September 2018 will receive these technologies as standard equipment, Mazda Canada would like to offer this program in support of all those who purchased these vehicles prior to the production change.
