Modern Mississauga presents Ask The City - Are there any free cycling events happening in Mississauga that I can participate in?

Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.” We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.
Today’s question is about cycling events in Mississauga.

Are there any free cycling events happening in Mississauga that I can participate in?

There are ongoing cycling events happening across Mississauga that are free to participate in through the summer and into the fall. These events provide the perfect opportunity to explore Mississauga by bike and experience the City’s cycling network.

Community Rides

The City of Mississauga has organized free Community Rides that take place across the city from May until October. With rides scheduled at various locations across the city, it’s easy to find a ride in your neck of the woods.

Participants can choose between rides that range in distance from five to 20 kilometres. Volunteer marshals will complete a safety talk prior to each ride and then lead the groups through the ride.

The rides take place on a variety of roads, bike lanes and multi-use trails and are open to everyone.

Registration for Community Rides is required. For more information and to register, visit

2019 Mississauga Bike Challenge

It isn’t too late to join Mississauga’s third annual Bike Challenge! Register for the Bike Challenge and for every five kilometres you cycle, $1 will be donated in support of Mississauga’s hospitals through the Trillium Health Partners Foundation. The goal is to raise $70,000 by collectively riding 350,000 km.

Participants can choose their own cycling adventures. Whether it’s a quick ride to the store or a leisurely day spent cycling around the city, log the kilometres you cycle and help make an impact in your community.

The Bike Challenge continues until October 26 and participants can register at any time.
