Using an existing resource, Ward 1 Councillor Stephen Dasko has led the charge towards repurposing Mississauga’s Lakeview Golf Course into a community winter walking trail.
He says “It is great for safe winter hikes or snowshoeing with your family! There’s free parking, washrooms available and leashed dogs are welcome too.”

There are orange markers throughout the trail that will guide you.
Please be respectful of social distancing and others’ space when sharing the trail.

We spoke with Councillor Dasko’s office to get you answers to the questions below…here’s what you need to know:

1. Is there a cap/limit on how many people can be on the course at the same time?
No cap/limit, similar to a public park.  A 2km trail can safely have up to 100 people using it at one time with everyone generously distanced.  We don’t anticipate this many people at one time. As an example, our opening day had about 90 people total use the trail spread over 6 hours. We will revisit this if conditions change.

2. How long is the trail?
It’s a 2 km loop

3. Is it open seven days a week?
Yes

4. Is there a time limit on how long people can be on the trail for?
No time limit, people can re-walk the loop if they wish.

5. Once we start getting more light at night, will the 10 to 4 hours be extended?
The walking trail is a pilot project and we are being cautious to protect the golf course turf conditions. At this time, we don’t anticipate extending the 10-4 operating hours.

6. How long is the pilot project approved for currently?
The trail opened January 7th and it will close sometime in March.  We will evaluate the weather and course conditions closer to that time to determine our closing date.  Our turf maintenance team will require appropriate time to prepare and groom the golf course to open the golf season.
