Modern Motoring - 2025 Subaru Forester e-BOXER Hybrid

The outdoorsy brand has taken their popular compact crossover and electrified it, and it's about time!

The 2025 Subaru Forester e-BOXER Hybrid enters the scene with a 2.5 L four-cylinder engine churning out 194 horsepower, 191 lb-ft. of torque through an e-CVT, paired with a 1.1 kWh battery and of course, the famous symmetrical all-wheel drive. Oh, and this project was in partnership with Toyota.

As one of the last in the compact crossover market to offer an alternative to gas-only, the Forester hybrid was/is worth the wait.

Rated at 6.9 L/100 km (34.1 MPG,) for 2025, the Forester e-BOXER hybrid is only available as a top-trim Premiere but it'll be surprising if other trims aren't offered in the next 1-2 years.

After cranking out nearly 2,000 km on a British Columbia rockies road trip in mid-June, there's a lot to like and appreciate here, especially on the driving side.

Electrifying the Forester from the brand that embraces the outdoors is a smart move.
