Learn about Mississauga's MiWay Student Ambassadors program

Know a secondary school student who is social and digital media-savvy? MiWay is once again looking for secondary school students in Mississauga to apply to be MiWay Student Ambassadors and take part in this virtual program to help promote transit in their community.

The MiWay Student Ambassador Program is a popular annual program that’s evolved from its launch in 2010 into a virtual format so students don’t have to attend in-person meetings to participate. It’s a fun and professional opportunity for students to represent and digitally promote MiWay and the benefits of transit while earning volunteer hours, showcasing their talent, gaining experience and winning prizes.

What does an ambassador do?

  • Help educate students about the benefits of taking public transit

  • Attend online meetings

  • Create and share social media content about MiWay

The application period for the 2022-2023 program is open from March 1 to April 30, 2022. Students can apply as an individual or with a friend, (pairs must attend the same school).

What’s in it for me? Prizes and perks!

  • Students can earn points and volunteer hours, win prizes for completing activities throughout the program all while developing their leadership and communication skills

  • Ambassadors with the most points will win free transit for an entire year

  • Ambassadors representing the top three schools will be recognized at a Mississauga City Council meeting

Currently, there are 25 high schools participating in the 2021-2022 virtual program.
