Mississauga Fundraiser ’Twas the Bite Before Christmas Returns for 2026

With more than $1.42 million raised to date, ’Twas the Bite Before Christmas will return to Oasis Convention Centre on Tuesday, December 1, 2026, for its 18th Annual Turkey Dinner Fundraiser. Taking place on Giving Tuesday, this year’s event aims to raise funds for local food banks and community food programs, welcome new supporters and strengthen partnerships that help address food insecurity in Mississauga.

“This dinner has always been about our community coming together to help our neighbours,” says Joanne MacAlpine, Event Chair, ’Twas the Bite Before Christmas Dinner. “

Surpassing $1.42 million reflects years of generosity from our guests, volunteers, sponsors and partners. This year, we want to build on that support and invite more people and businesses to be part of what comes next.”

“This year marks Food Banks Mississauga's 40th anniversary, and the need has never been more urgent. Mississauga is experiencing a prolonged food insecurity emergency, and last year, Food Banks Mississauga and our network of 60+ food programs saw a record-breaking half a million visits. As the citywide food system behind Mississauga's food bank network that ensures food is distributed efficiently across the city and beyond, we are grateful for partners like Twas the Bite Before Christmas, who step up time and again to support us so we can be there for neighbours in need this holiday season," Meghan Nicholls, CEO of Food Banks Mississauga

Giving Tuesday is a global movement that encourages people to give through donations, volunteering and community action. The dinner offers a local opportunity to participate, bringing residents and businesses together for an evening that supports access to food in Mississauga.

The fundraising milestone builds on the organization’s longstanding community efforts, which have included frozen turkey deliveries, meals through Feed Mississauga, essential supplies for babies and youth through the Just 4 U Box project, and support for free food tables.

Guests can look forward to a turkey dinner, silent auction and music from a DJ. Organizers are also exploring new ways for guests and community partners to participate in this year’s Giving Tuesday fundraiser. Additional activities will be announced as plans are confirmed.
