Modern Artist Profile: Mississauga's CPARK
/In conversation with Mississauga’s CPARK, who won DJ of the Year at the 2026 Mississauga Music Awards.
1. Congrats on winning DJ of the Year! What was the first thought you had when your name was announced?
I felt a mix of excitement and gratitude. I’ve been DJing for 12 years, and having that recognition in a city where I’ve spent most of my life means a lot to me. I’ve put so much time into developing my sound and building my career, so it felt really special to have that work recognized by my own community. It was a reminder that all the hours behind the scenes really do add up.
2. How does winning this award impact your career?
It’s definitely motivating, and it gives me even more confidence to keep pushing what I’m doing. I’ve been fortunate enough to play some of the biggest EDM venues and events in the city, including VELD and Rebel, but I see this award as another milestone rather than a finish line. It means a lot to have that local support, and I hope it helps introduce my work to more people while opening doors to new opportunities. More than anything, it makes me want to keep raising the bar.
3. You've accomplished so much in such a short time in your career; what's on deck for 2027?
I just got my US visa approved so my goal is to finally take what I've built in the last 12 years in this city and start making a footprint in other parts of North America.
4. What keeps you driven?
The ultimate goal for me has always been to bridge the gap in dance music. I also genuinely love doing this and can't imagine my life without music. I still get excited about discovering new music, finding sounds that inspire me, and figuring out how to translate those ideas into my own sets and productions. I'm also driven by the feeling of playing a set and seeing a crowd connect with the music. That never really gets old.
5. What keeps you grounded?
I've been a lifelong musician and creative, music is something that I truly love and also something that's always been innately purposeful for me, long before any awards, big stages, or recognition. I’m grateful for every opportunity, but I also know there’s always more to learn and room to improve. Keeping the right energy around me and remembering why I started in the first place helps me stay focused on what really matters.
6. Who inspires you?
My biggest inspirations will always be the incredible women who paved the way before me - Tokimonsta and Alison Wonderland, to name a few. I’m also inspired by artists who aren't afraid to take risks and build a sound that’s completely their own.
7. What would you say to the 2019 version of you, knowing everything you know now?
I'd tell her to keep going, and that her time is coming soon. I’d tell myself to trust the process, be patient, and not put so much pressure on having everything figured out right away.. A lot can change in a few years, and sometimes the things that feel uncertain at the time end up shaping you the most as an artist.
