Value Village relocates to a larger space

Value Village, a thrift superstore chain with more than 330 locations across North America, is moving from its current location on 3130 Dixie Rd to 1475 Dundas St East and will open its new and improved store on Thursday, January 12. The store will celebrate its new home and a continued partnership with Oasis Clothing Bank during a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m. on the morning of the grand opening. The ceremony is open to the public and will be attended by Value Village management and representatives from Oasis Clothing Bank and Mississauga city leadership.

Value Village was founded on the core principle of supporting local communities, and has embraced that principle by partnering with nonprofits since 1954. The store’s partnership with Oasis Clothing Bank means Value Village pays the organization when you donate your goods to Oasis at the store’s on-site Community Donation Centre or have your donation picked up at your home by Oasis, whether the items make it to the sales floor or not. When members of the Mississauga community donate, they are not only giving their goods a second life, they are turning those goods into a sustainable source of funding for Oasis.

The revenue received through this partnership is crucial in supporting Oasis’ mission to enrich lives and improve communities through supporting the Oasis Addiction recovery society. As a direct result of their partnership with Value Village, Oasis is able to help individuals who are in addiction recovery with employment focused programs. “The program funding we receive though our partnership with Value Village allows us to support those in the Mississauga area on the road to recovery,” said Andonis Artemakis, Project Manager. “Not everybody is able to donate their time or money, but by visiting the store’s Community Donation Centre or scheduling a home pick up with our team, the simple act of donating reusable goods becomes an easy way to support our community.”

In addition to the good deeds Value Village has brought to Mississauga for years, it also has offered great deals. Value Village pioneered a thrift store experience that has defied typical expectations for secondhand shopping for many years, and the new Mississauga location serves to improve that experience. In fact, shoppers will find the new store to be more spacious, well-lit and easier to navigate than the current location, which means more deals in a refined thrift setting.

With more than 100,000 items on its sales floor at any given time, and carrying everything from clothing and accessories, to housewares and electronics, Value Village is no ordinary thrift store. Customers will find a fresh stock of value-priced goods, including authentic vintage finds and name brand fashions, with up to 10,000 new items placed on the floor each day.

“We’ve been working incredibly hard as we prepare to move store locations and we can’t wait to share our new home with the Mississauga community,” said Justin Eleuterio, Value Village store manager. “The new store is larger than our previous location around the block, so we look forward to providing our customers with the same unbelievable deals, but in a bigger and better space. Just about everybody likes to save money, support nonprofits, and go green, and we make it easy to do all three.”

Value Village is also on a mission to create a better world through reuse by inspiring local communities to donate reusable items to local nonprofits instead of throwing them in the trash. Through its commitment to sustainability, Value Village has become one of the largest recyclers of used goods in the world, keeping more than 650 million pounds of reusable items from landfills each year.

The relocated Mississauga store and Community Donation Centre, located across the street from the former store, will be at 1475 Dundas St East. The store will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, customers may contact the store directly at 905.949.4440 or visit www.valuevillage.com.
