Canada’s first éclair-only patisserie has officially opened its newest location in Square One Shopping Centre!

1. How long as Nugateau been in business for?
4 Years in December and and we opened our Square One location in October 2019 after a successful pop-up shop in 2018.

2. What inspired you to start Nugateau?
To bring something to the community that hasn’t been done before with unique flavours.

3. Your pastry chef is remarkable - what's his training background?:
He’s trained at Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa and also studied the delicate art of French Pastry in France.

4. What impression do you want new customers to have?
A unique treat with exceptional customer service.

5. How do you decide what flavours to create?
Our flavours are season driven, for example, Fall/Winter are more robust rich flavours such as nutty and rich chocolate V/S Spring/Summer more lighter fruity flavours.

6. Why did you pick Mississauga to expand to?
Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington are growing rapidly and we used to receive lots of requests from customers in those areas to open a shop at Square One as the driving to Toronto could be difficult.
We listened to our customers.

7. What succinct advice do you have for other entrepreneurs as they expand?
Find the right balance and let the product speaks for itself.

8. In such a niche market, what's contributed the most to your long-standing success?
Love and support from our clients and our dedication to offer unique deserts with an exceptional customer experience.

9. Is there anything you'd change during your entrepreneurial journey?
I would not change anything.

10. How would you describe your eclairs to a stranger?
A classic French Pastry with modern twist in flavours.

11. What was/is the inspiration for the name “Nugateau”:
Gateau means Cake in French, so we came up with this name Nugateau, the new cake shop in town.
