Modern Mississauga presents Ask The City - What should drivers do when snow plows and or salt trucks are on the road during a snow event?

Modern Mississauga and the City of Mississauga have come together to present an ongoing series called “Ask the City.” We’ll share relevant information here and answer your questions about our city.

Today’s question is about driving on the road when snow plows and salt trucks are in service.

What should drivers do when snow plows and or salt trucks are on the road during a snow event?

The City of Mississauga’s goal is to maintain road safety by clearing the way and limit the impact of salt on the environment.
Here are some simple things you can do when you see snow plows or salt trucks on the road during a snow event.

·         Avoid parking on residential streets and move parked vehicles when you can. This helps plows clear the way safely and effectively as non-moving cars can get in the way of snow-clearing equipment.

·         If you see any plows or salt trucks on the road, be patient and give them lots of space to clear the way.

·         Track snow plows and salters online by visiting https://www.511portal.com/mississauga. Priority routes are always cleared first, followed by secondary routes.

·         For updates during a snow event, please follow @MississaugaSnow on Twitter.

·         If your street hasn’t been cleared after City service levels have been complete, please call 3-1-1.
