1. What exactly is "The Edition" and why does it exist?

The Edition is a digital editorial series focused on highlighting local artists, nonprofits, and small businesses across Mississauga and the GTA.

It exists because there’s a lot happening in our community that doesn’t always get seen. Not everything fits into fast-moving social media, and not every organization has the resources to consistently promote themselves.

The Edition is my way of creating space for those stories—and giving them the visibility they deserve.

2. How long did it take to plan and strategize it before you launched?

It’s been a passion project for a while, but the direction really came together over the past year. I officially launched it in December 2025.

My background in PR and content strategy played a big role—I’ve spent years working with community organizations and saw firsthand how much great work was happening behind the scenes but not always being amplified.

3. How do you create and curate the content?

Each issue is intentionally curated to include a mix of artists, nonprofits, and businesses.

I look at what’s happening locally—events, releases, initiatives—and build each feature to give context, not just visibility. It’s not meant to feel like a post, but more like a snapshot of what’s happening in the community at that moment.

When a featured business gains new followers, when an event sees more attendance, or when people discover a local artist they didn’t know about—that’s the goal.

4. What was the most challenging part of the process?

The biggest challenge has been making sure it doesn’t get lost in the noise.

We’re all used to scrolling, so creating something people actually pause and engage with—and see the value in—takes intention. It’s about shifting perception from “just another post” to something worth paying attention to.

5. What's the most rewarding aspect of The Edition?

Seeing the impact.

When a featured business gains new followers, when an event sees more attendance, or when people discover a local artist they didn’t know about—that’s the goal.

It’s also been a great way for me personally to discover new talent and organizations I wouldn’t have come across otherwise.

6. What gap does this fill in our community?

It fills the gap between awareness and visibility.

There are so many great initiatives happening locally, but they’re often fragmented across different platforms. The Edition brings them together in one place and presents them in a way that feels intentional and accessible.

It makes it easier for people to stay connected to what’s happening in their own community.

7. How can the community support you as a local entrepreneur?

The simplest way is to engage—follow, share, and support the organizations being featured.

I’ve also introduced sponsored features for businesses and organizations that want more dedicated visibility, especially around events or launches.

And beyond that, partnerships are always welcome—The Edition is built to grow alongside the community it represents.
