Learn about Mississauga's 2018 Christmas at the Lighthouse

Kick off the jolliest holiday with your family and friends.  Come experience the magic of Christmas and experience the thrill of outdoor activities at the “Christmas at the Lighthouse” event on Saturday, December 1, 2018 in support of The Compass Food Bank in Port Credit.

The fun-filled family event starts at 1:00 p.m.  Friends, families and pets can have selfie pictures taken with Santa in his sleigh. There is no cost for the photos, but donations to The Compass Foodbank are encouraged.

A variety of Interactive Ice Sculptures and a Carving Demonstration also will be at the event.   Children will love the “Kids Cool Canvas Activity” – a great opportunity to paint their own murals on ice allowing their inner creativity to show.  Challenge friends, siblings and parents to a game of Ring Toss, a game that includes 7 interesting ice sculpture designs and rubber rings.  At 3:00 p.m. don’t miss the exceptional Carving Demonstration with a professional who will show the process behind an ice sculpture.

Check out the various kids’ craft workshops.  Drop into the Storytelling tent to relax and listen to some of children’s favourite Christmas stories.  Face painting, juggling and balloon figures add more to the joyful experience.

Moms and Dads will enjoy the Festive Artisan Market with shopping opportunities that include hostess gifts, handcrafted jewellery, leg art, toys, exclusive adult and children’s clothing, home wares, and more.

In this season of giving, help those in need by building a mountain of food for The Compass – bring a non-perishable food item.

Music will fill the hearts of all visitors as River North, featuring Heather Brissenden and Matt Zaddy, sing songs as well as sing-a-long carols.

At 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. join the Lighthouse Lighting festivities.  Prior to the Port Credit iconic Lighthouse coming to life sporting its seasonal colours, enjoy caroling with River North and watch the Mississauga Children’s Choir illuminate the area with entertainment.  Mayor Bonnie Crombie, MPP Rudy Cuzzetto,   MP Sven Spengemann and Ward 1 Councillor-Elect Stephen Dasko will be joining the event to chat with the crowd and offer special Christmas wishes for the season.  Santa will be strolling the ceremony to see who is naughty and nice.  Free hot chocolate, sponsored by Edenshaw, will be served during the                  5:00 – 6:00 p.m. celebrations.

The Christmas at the Lighthouse event will be located on the south side of the Port Credit Lighthouse at 105 Lakeshore Road West (southeast corner of Lakeshore Road and Front Street).  Festivities run from 1:00 – 6:00 P.M.
