From September 14 to 23, the Southdown Industrial Area in Mississauga will be transformed into a contemporary art exhibition. With commissioned works by Canadian and international artists, this 10-day festival will allow visitors to experience a conversation focused on elemental forces, geopolitical processes and environmental violence impacting the earth.
First of its Kind
A contemporary art project of this scale is the first of its kind in Mississauga. The two-week festival will feature a series of live events including performances, film screenings, talks, workshops and more.
Friday, September 14 6 to 9 p.m.
Lakeside Park, 2268 Lakeshore Rd W, Mississauga, ON L5J 1K4
This will be the public’s first chance to view the artwork with artists onsite and available to provide information and tours.
What’s Coming Up this Weekend
During opening weekend, there will be many amazing visuals and stories to capture. This includes We Who Spin Around You starting at 7 p.m. on September 14.
In this evening exhibition, participants will be invited to wear custom-made bronze masks designed to help them safely view the sun, transforming it into a tiny dark green sphere. As this is happening, a scientist, scholar or poet will deliver a brief lecture or reading on solar history and humanity’s changing relationship to the sun and skies.
