Mississauga's Magnificent & Modern Marina Park Reopens May 3, 2025

We’re fortunate to have a city on the waterfront and having it be accessible is a key factor for the community.
Previously, Marina Park was good, although it was showing its age. Kinda like our owner, Jay Kana.
Sure, you could launch boats, kayaks, canoes from a functional side. From a beautification viewpoint, it left a lot to be desired. There was a decent framework but it needed to be transformed from bland to grand, and that’s exactly what’s happened.

For those unfamiliar, Marina Park is where the Port Credit lighthouse is and it buzzes with activity, primarily in summer. It’s been quiet since 2022 as the new additions and redevelopment has taken place.
Now, it’s ready for the community to enjoy both on land and in the water with the official reopening date being May 3rd, 2025.
Here’s what’s new and exciting at Port Credit’s Marina Park, along with sources, of course.
Thanks to Stephen Dasko’s office and the City of Mississauga’s Communications department for their help.
If you’ll excuse me, I have a kayak to put in the Credit River from the dedicated non-motorized boat launch - enjoy the read!

What were the initial objectives of redeveloping Marina Park?

Provide for a complete design in support of the confirmed shoreline and park programs.

  • Design for flexibility and to functionally support existing and proposed park site programming.

  • Design to enhance the west side of river/harbour as a destination for residents, visitors and businesses.

  • Create a safe public urban waterfront environment on water and land.

  • Improve the interconnections between the parks and within the larger urban waterfront context.

  • Create a design that is economically achievable.

The final concept plan was presented on March 3, 2020 and then that thing happened 10 days later. You know…that thing.

In the presentation, page 19 outlines themes patrons will see include a First Nations one by the lighthouse, with fishing and stone hooking themes in the parking lot area.

Ward One Councillor Stephen Dasko will host an official ribbon cutting ceremony along with Mayor Carolyn Parrish on Saturday, May 3rd; details below.
