/Mississauga’s Arts on the Credit (AOTC) celebrates 15 creative years in 2026!
Their upcoming Fine Arts Show, happening May 30 & 31 at the Small Arms Building in Lakeview, is a celebration of local artists and a way to commemorate this milestone in the community.
We connected with Elysia Prokopetz, President of AOTC and she shared some history of the organization, its importance and what’s ahead.
1.What are some key factors to AOTC being around for 15 years?
AOTC has remained active for 15 years by presenting high-quality, juried art shows, fostering a strong local artist community, and hosting annual events that keep audiences engaged. Since 2009, it has grown to include three in-person shows and one virtual event: the Fine Arts Show, ArtWorks, the Holiday Market, and Art2, helping build a recognizable brand and loyal following.
2. How has AOTC impacted the art community over the past 15 years?
AOTC has enriched Mississauga’s arts community by giving artists across all mediums professional opportunities to exhibit and sell their work while fostering strong connections between artists and audiences. Its events attract thousands of visitors, contribute to the local economy, and raise artists’ profiles through mentorship and partnerships, including collaborations with Sheridan College and Visual Arts Mississauga.
3. What guests can expect at the 15th Anniversary Fine Arts Show – May 29-31
Guests can look forward to a vibrant, boutique fine arts experience showcasing exceptional local fine art, ceramics, jewelry, textiles, woodwork, and glass. The 2026 Fine Arts Show anniversary show begins with an exclusive VIP opening event and juried awards on May 29, followed by an inspiring two-day exhibition on May 30 and 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Small Arms Inspection Building, a venue known for its creative energy and strong community engagement.
4. How was AOTC created?
Founded in 2009, AOTC is an independent arts organization dedicated to showcasing and mentoring local artists. It began with the Artisan Studio Tour, later added a curated show at the Waterside Inn, and was incorporated in Ontario in 2018 as a non-profit arts organization governed by a volunteer board of directors. It has since grown into a multi-event annual program and a fixture in Mississauga’s cultural calendar.

5. Why is it important to have a strong arts scene in Mississauga?

6. What has kept you involved with AOTC over the years?
