Local Musician Matt Zaddy to pay tribute to Canadian Icon Gord Downie at Streetsville's Cuchulainn's Irish Pub

Popular and accomplished local musician, Matt Zaddy, will be using his long time running open mic event this Tuesday, October 24th, to honour the memory of Canadian icon, Gord Downie.

Here's what our good friend Matt says about the upcoming event and why he's doing this:

"Somewhere along the way in my musical journey I fell in love with Gord Downie & The Tragically Hip. The songs seems to speak what it means to be #Canadian. There is a story in their music that hits me deep, and changed the way I looked at songwriting and the way I write.

This Tuesday at Cuchulainn's Irish Pub, we will honour the legacy of a great Canadian Musician.  I am starting the night at 945pm with 3 Tragically Hip tunes, and performers are encouraged to play their favourites from Gord and the boys throughout the night."

He goes on to say:

"#RIP #GordDownie, your contribution to our nation has not gone unnoticed. Thank you for all that you did for music, our culture, indigenous people, and lastly for inspiring me to write about the land I love and use my music as a change for good.
Your story will continue in all of us."

Come out to Cuchulainn's Irish Pub tonight and celebrate the life, songs and memories of Gord, the Tragically Hip and an unforgettable piece of Canadian culture.
