Join The Chamber Music Society of Mississauga (CMSM) as it celebrates the iconic Canadian pianist, Glenn Gould in this, his 85th year. 2017 also marks the 20th anniversary of CMSM and Canada’s 150th. Created by Dr. Penny Johnson, this special triple birthday celebration and Canada 150 event, features live performances of chamber music, interspersed with archived audio and video footage of Gould’s numerous radio and television appearances for the CBC.
Produced with the generous support of the City of Mississauga, The Glenn Gould Estate, Steinway Piano Gallery Toronto, The Community Foundation of Mississauga and the Lloyd Carr-Harris Foundation, Glenn Gould 905 seeks not only to celebrate three special birthdays, but also to uncover, in a live documentary fashion, Gould’s multi-faceted and non-conformist approach to music and sound, as well as his versatility as an artist and his humanitarianism towards people and animals.
Musical performances by local, professional artists include: Dr. Penny Johnson, piano, Corey Gemmell, violin, Peggy Hills, violin, Nicholas Papadakis, viola, Mary Katherine Finch, cello (all Principal Players of the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra) and Jennifer Tung, soprano (Assistant Conductor, MSO.)
